There’s no fighting, no financial difficulty, no lack of clients (could always be more, of course), and so what’s up at Big House? The lease – that’s what.
Through the process of figuring out what to do about their lease, the three partners at Big House Communications decided they each wanted to focus on their areas of strength and a different structure would best serve this new direction.
On October 31, 2011 (after 22 years in business), the partners in Big House will go their separate ways but will continue to focus on their areas of expertise within the advertising business.
- Ken Fedoruk will retain the Big House name
- Cam Landell will lead Watershed Communications Group
- Richard Clune will head up Treetop Marketing and Promotions
“We don’t think of it as an ending,” say the three partners. “It’s more that we are evolving into those areas that each of us does best and we look forward to continuing our new working relationships with clients to more effectively serve their needs.”
Big House – Ken Fedoruk
Fedoruk, who co-founded Big House, will restructure into a boutique agency. In addition to advertising and design offerings, Big House will bring to market innovative executions and design of large format display installations for retail, food and entertainment businesses. As creative director and project manager, Fedoruk will oversee conceptual and production details bringing together suppliers and talent. “My passion is creating opportunities for brands to engage with and excite the consumer through interactive and memorable experiences on a much larger, three-dimensional scale.”

Watershed Communications Group – Cam Landell
Watershed Communications Group is led by Cam Landell and creative partner Brian Musgrove (formerly Associate Creative Director at Rethink). The word Watershed refers to a moment of major redirection, usually of a force of nature or a company. The agency’s focus is creative change for clients in areas of brand messaging, promotional advertising, web environments and audience connection strategies. “Watershed will deliver fresh thinking in traditional sales, store and media channels, but also encourages clients to embrace more complete online marketing systems,” says Landell.

Throughout its 22 years in business, Big House was known as a creative forward agency and a cool place to work and do business. It garnered many awards over the years including various Lotus Awards as well as having been honoured with one of the top places to work in Vancouver. The partners believe that the time for boutique agencies has once again returned and the changes they are making will ensure they are positioned to best serve this changing market landscape.
